Weibo is one of China’s most popular social network, taking the place of both Twitter and Facebook for many people in the country. The company has had a UWP app available for Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile for a while now, and now availability is being expanded to the Xbox One.
The Xbox One is the first of the Xbox line to be officially available in China, and this is the first time they’ve had an app for the system. The Xbox One’s ability to run UWP apps (which arrived August last year) also makes developing for the system significantly easier; and is likely part of the reason the app has arrived.
The Universal Windows Platform lets one app run across multiple platforms, often without changing any code at all. It’s one of Microsoft’s greatest strengths at the moment, and easily lets developers bring apps to platforms they often wouldn’t consider developing apps for, like the Xbox One.
You can find the app in the Windows Store below. If you don’t feel like hunting for it in the Xbox Store, simply installing it to your PC will make it show up in the Ready to Install section under My Games & Apps on your Xbox One. Uninstalling the app from your PC won’t change this, as it’s still tied to your account.
