We have seen a leaked screen casing which suggests Microsoft plans to use its own brand front on centre in place of Nokia’s on their new Windows phone handsets. Now a petition is asking Microsoft to reconsider.
Unlike most petitions, which suggest Microsoft retain the Nokia brand (which in the end does not belong to them), Ingi0m4r suggests Microsoft use use the Lumia brand instead, saying:
The Branding of the Microsoft phones should say Lumia in front not Microsoft. It looks really ugly and the name is too long. Lumia is just right and its a cool name.
It is certainly debatable whether the Microsoft name front and centre on a handset will encourage or actually discourage sales, but it is certainly not a fresh and youthful brand, and may be more suitable for business focussed handsets than the cheaper devices which are selling the best.
