Microsoft’s friendly relationship with Nintendo isn’t stopping with Minecraft, Cuphead and trade tariffs; the ID@Xbox darling Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition is coming to Nintendo Switch.

Consistently rated as one of Xbox’s best exclusive games, this metroidvania holds a place in many gamer’s hearts. It’s an engrossing and emotional experience that should be right at home on Nintendo’s handheld.

The forest of Nibel is dying. After a powerful storm sets a series of devastating events in motion, an unlikely hero must journey to find his courage and confront a dark nemesis to save his home. “Ori and the Blind Forest” tells the tale of a young orphan destined for heroics, through a visually stunning action-platformer crafted by Moon Studios for PC. Featuring hand-painted artwork, meticulously animated character performance, and a fully orchestrated score, “Ori and the Blind Forest” explores a deeply emotional story about love and sacrifice, and the hope that exists in us all.

NEW IN THE DEFINITIVE EDITION
• Packed with new and additional content: New areas, new secrets, new abilities, more story sequences, multiple difficulty modes, full backtracking support and much more!
• Discover Naru’s past in two brand new environments.
• Master two powerful new abilities – Dash and Light Burst.
• Find new secret areas and explore Nibel faster by teleporting between Spirit Wells.

Microsoft’s Xbox team isn’t shying away from their friendly relationship with Nintendo. With the company willing to let their developers port their games if they’re suited to the Switch, Microsoft’s cross-platform Xbox ecosystem is becoming a reality.

With Ori’s sequel nearing the end of its development, we wonder how long it’ll be before Microsoft ports that one over too.

Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition will be available on Nintendo Switch on September 27th.
