The Xbox Live network is great, even if the games on Windows Phone 7 has been disappointing. It is however a very closed system, with only around 45 games in Marketplace currently having access to the network.

OpenXLive is a alternate network designed to give the thousands of other games on Windows Phone 7 a chance to be part of their own social work and features their own leader boards, achievements and cloud stoage. Launched in February this year, the service already has 12 games in Marketplace with over 40 games in development incorporating the service.

More than 28,000 unique users are already registered with the system, and the service has just released 0.9.5 which supports Silverlight games and which will recommend related apps or apps by the same developer to users, and also allow these apps to be directly installed from the client.
