Microsoft Q4 FY17 Earnings: Office continues to grow in both consumer and commercial space

Microsoft today announced FYQ4 2017 earnings results in which the revenue was $23.3 billion GAAP and operating income was $5.3 billion GAAP. Microsoft reported that Office commercial products and cloud services revenue increased 5% (up 6% in constant currency) mainly driven by strong Office 365 commercial revenue growth of 43% (up 44% in constant currency). Another positive thing to note is that Office continues to grow in the consumer space also. Office consumer products and cloud services revenue increased 13% (up 13% in constant currency). The total Office 365 consumer subscribers increased to 27.0 million.

As businesses start to move towards Office cloud offerings, Office commercial products revenue declined by 17% this quarter. Microsoft also mentioned that there are now over 90 million monthly active devices using Office products on iOS and Android.
