O2 Xda Guide Walks Into the Open, Leaves Us A Footprint

Look at what we have here folks. The O2 Xda Guide Windows Mobile Pro 6.1 Smartphone. This is the handset that will replace Germany’s Xda Orbit 2. Announced back in December, it looks as though a mid February launch is iminent.

O2 Xda Guide is 2.8-inch 320×240 touchscreen device features a design exclusive to O2 and is running on Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional. This driver supports GSM, GPRS and EDGE GSM 850/900/1800/1900 data networks as well as UMTS, HSDPA and HSUPA on 2100. O2 Xda Guide will be sporting a 1GB microSD card that contains TomTom Navigator 7 software along with map information for Germany, Austria and Switzerland to work alongside its GPS sensor.

O2 Xda Guide processing power comes from a 528MHz Qualcomm CPU and 256MB of RAM, while onboard memory is at 512MB and expandable via a microSD slot. Also WiFi, 3.2-megapixel camera and Bluetooth 2.0 capability will also be featured.

Here is where this device becomes even more interesting. The Xda Guide will have the new “Footprints” button which will be integrated as part of TouchFlo. What does Footprints allow you to do exactly?

Footprints lets you photograph locations, straight from the HTC TouchFLO application. If GPS is available, the location will be added to the information and the user can add some comments to this Footprint location…”

Thats right, HTC is finally getting into geo-tagging, and making it easy with a simple touch. Pretty slick, don’t you think?

Well there she is kids, the O2 Xda Guide Windows Mobile Professional Smartphone. No definites as far as pricing goes, as near as we can tell, but that should surely be available soon as the release date is merely a few weeks away.
