Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090

Today is the day. Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 5080 and 5090 are finally launching, and with that, the tech giant launched a new GPU driver (572.16) alongside its next-gen graphic cards.

The Game Ready 572.16 driver brings lots of major updates for both new and existing RTX users. It now adds support for DLSS 4 in over 75 games and apps, including Cyberpunk 2077, Alan Wake 2, and Hogwarts Legacy—these titles now feature DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation.

For older RTX 40-series users, the new driver also introduces a more efficient frame generation model that’s 40% faster and uses 30% less VRAM than before.

Nvidia has also upgraded its RTX Video Super Resolution (VSR) feature so that it’s easier for you to upscale blurry or lower-resolution videos. It even supports HDR content with fewer GPU resources.

The RTX 50-series cards, on the other hand, get a new DLSS Multi Frame Generation feature, which adds extra frames for a smoother experience, though it works best when the base frame rate is already high. The driver also includes bug fixes for G-SYNC issues and stability improvements for Ubisoft’s Snowdrop engine, along with general performance enhancements.

The 5080 & 5090 launch is so hyped that gamers across the US were already camping out at Micro Center stores to secure one of the limited units. With 8K gaming potential, the RTX 5090 is priced at $1,999, while the RTX 5080 is more affordable at $999.

MSI, one of Nvidia’s partners, has confirmed that pre-orders for Nvidia’s highly anticipated GeForce RTX 5090 will begin on January 30, 2025, but shipments are delayed until February 6, due to supply chain issues and overwhelming demand
