Microsoft is not catching any luck with this month’s Windows 10 Cumulative Update. The update has been plagued by broken start menus, network adaptor issues and more, and now the Security Update appears to have broken Windows Defender.

Windows 10 users on Reddit and the Feedback Hub are complaining that manual scanning appears not to be working, with full system scans terminating after only a few seconds.

Microsoft has confirmed the issue in a statement to ZDNet, saying only manual scanning was affected, but not real-time scanning, which still protected users.

ZDNet reports that Microsoft is working on a fix. In the meantime, users can use the Custom Scan option to scan their drives, though it would need to be one drive at a time.
