Key notes

  • Samsung’s Galaxy S25 has a new AI feature called Object Eraser to remove and fix photos.
  • Apple Intelligence has the same feature, but a recent comparison video shows that the two aren’t the same.
  • The South Korean tech giant then took a playful jab at Apple for it.
Samsung vs. Apple, generative erase AI

Samsung has slapped a lot of AI smarts to its Galaxy S25 smartphone line-up, which was launched in January. One of them is the Object Eraser which lets you remove objects from photos and even generate missing body parts.

The feature has drawn a lot of comparisons to Apple’s version of its Apple Intelligence offering, which seems to be struggling with similar tasks.

One video from tech YouTuber Andrew Clare shows that S25’s Object Eraser easily removes objects from his photo and fills in the missing areas with content to replace the covered face with an AI-generated face. Apple’s, on the other hand, is quite nothing like it.

And it seems like Samsung isn’t waiting any longer to roast its competitor—seemingly in time for a playful nod to Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Halftime Show 2025 performance.

Apple Intelligence’s promising release has been facing a lot of backlash here and there recently, especially for its AI summary feature.

The feature, which combines notifications, emails, and messages into summaries, has been criticized for its inaccuracies, particularly when the system wrongly reported details about a crime involving Luigi Mangione.

This led to the temporary disabling of the feature in iOS 18.3, although the Apple Intelligence was then set to be turned on by default after that update.

We reported earlier that the Cupertino tech giant was working to ship iOS 18.3.1, which might be fixing these issues, besides improvements over security, too.

Oof.
