Nokia today announced its Q1 2012 financial results and as expected the results were in red. Nokia had net sales of €7.4 billion ($9.7 billion), down from €10.4 billion ($13.6 billion) in the same period last year. Also Nokia is posting a loss of €1.3 billion ($1.7 billion) this quarter.

On Nokia Lumia sales, Stephen Elop mentioned the following in financial report,

We have launched four Lumia devices ahead of schedule to encouraging awards and popular acclaim. The actual sales results have been mixed. We exceeded expectations in markets including the United States, but establishing momentum in certain markets including the UK has been more challenging.

This is in line with the recent Reuters report that Nokia Lumia 800 sales are poor in Europe. Hope the launch of Nokia Lumia 900 will re-kindle the sales.
