The new Windows Phone 8 user interface may show up on a Windows Phone 7 handset first, with the Nokia US twitter rep tweeting that the update will be “rolling out in the coming weeks.â€
The first Windows Phone 8 handsets are expected only in the fall, likely around September to October, which is of course several months away.
The Windows Phone 7.8 update will bring the new Windows Phone 8 start screen to Windows Phone 7, but any other additional features are unclear.
Interestingly this tweet may shed some (dim) light on the issue, with Nokia tweeting:
Update: Nokia’s twitter account has now refined their statement, saying:
I guess we will be waiting a bit longer then…
See the tweet here.
Thanks Ball for the tip.
