imageIn a short press release Nokia has confirmed that it has completed the sale of Vertu, their luxury phone division to EQT VI, a large investment firm.

As part of the transaction, approximately 1,000 employees have transferred with Vertu, and according to TechCrunch a long time Nokia veteran Anssi Vanjoki, who recently resigned from Nokia, will be taking over the roll of CEO of the company.

Not all hope is however lost for a luxury Lumia, with Nokia retaining a 10% share in the company.  There is however speculation that Vertu will rapidly turn towards Android, suggesting the 64 GB Windows Phone 8 handset they have been working on may not actually make it to the market.
