June 8, 2025 – Yesterday’s Xbox Games Showcase, Team Ninja and PlatinumGames confirmed that Ninja Gaiden 4 lands on October 21, 2025, across Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC. Moreover, excited fans can get started with Game Pass from day one.

The new trailer spotlights Yakumo, a Ravenclan ninja endowed with a weaponized Bloodraven Form. Set in a rain-soaked near-future Tokyo, the game tasks players with battling the sinister Divine Dragon Order. Alongside Yakumo, the iconic Ryu Hayabusa returns as a playable character, bringing his signature speed and lethal techniques.

During hands-on time, PlatinumGames director Yuji Nakao showcased the Obliteration Technique, now smoothly integrated into combo chains. He stated the depth of play increases with skill, granting players dramatic freedom in combat. Nakao also demonstrated the new Berserk Gauge and Caddis Wire grappling mechanic. Both these systems reward aggressive engagement and vertical movement.

The Bloodraven Form stands out: a powerful but timed-on ability that breaks enemy defenses. Nakao cautioned newcomers as it ramps up difficulty, but emphasized the learning curve is part of the experience. The game balances the old-school brutality of Ninja Gaiden with polished responsiveness for modern play.

Trailer footage confirms the fan-anticipated mechanics – from seamless weapon swaps, graphic Bloodbath Kills, massive boss fights, and ghostly mechanical shrines. The tone stays dark-blood and dismemberment are back, front and center.

Calling back to the franchise’s roots, Nakao said 3D slash-action games have become rare, and he hopes Ninja Gaiden 4 reignites interest in the genre. Fans will see two more Ninja Gaiden titles later this year: Ragebound, a 2D spin-off due July 31, and Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, set for release earlier in the year.
