Some time back we reported that Samsung was not able to pull off an in display fingerprint scanner. Now a new report suggests that Samsung might have succeeded after all.

The latest report comes from Ming-Chi Kuo who holds a decent track for correct predictions focusing mainly on iPhone and Apple.

Samsung Display has prepared three or four solutions for Samsung Electronics to embed the fingerprint sensor inside of the main display, and both are seriously considering one of the solutions. The delay in deciding on the final concept for the Note 9 is due to the work in adopting the in-display fingerprint sensor. A final decision on adoption of the technology will be made by this month.

Samsung is rumored to announce the Galaxy Note 9 some time late August and might have already finalized the design of the device. However, the company does have some time before the launch which could allow them to perfect the in display fingerprint technology to meet the industry standards. This will also have some design benefits and with fingerprint scanner out of the way, Samsung can easily add a bigger battery.

However, in display fingerprint sensor will cost more than a regular sensor but with bulk orders, Samsung might be able to reduce the cost.
