Asus today revealed their new VivoBook Pro N580 laptop that will bridge the gap between high-end laptops and mainstream laptops. When selecting a laptop to buy, many people would be forced to compromise on its specs because of the price. Asus is trying to target those customers by offering a high-value product. This new VivoBook Pro N580 is powered by an Intel Core i7-7700HQ quad-core processor which is generally reserved for high-end gaming laptops.  It also comes with 16GB RAM and NVIDIA’s GeForce 1050 GPU that can handle all the power needed for resource-intensive content creation applications and graphics-intensive games like Call of Duty Infinite Warfare and Titanfall 2.

In the US, Asus will only have Full HD 1080p screen while some countries around the world will have an optional 4K display. And both the display configurations cover 100% of the sRGB color gamut and have 178° viewing angles. On the storage side, customers can select up to 512GB of M.2 SSD storage and 2.5” drives up to 1TB.

Despite packing incredible power, it weighs in at 4.8 lbs and measures 20.5 mm thick. And it follows the same design as the premium ZenBook line with sleek metal accents and a tapered profile. It supports Windows Hello authentication through  embedded fingerprint sensor in the touchpad. Audio experience on this laptop is powered by Harmon Kardon and it comes with a smart amplifier that pumps out more than three times the volume of a regular amp, and larger-than-average speaker chambers for clearer audio.

On the connectivity front, VivoBook Pro N580 laptop includes two USB 2.0 ports, one USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C with support for displays up to 4K resolution, a full-sized HDMI port, an SD card reader, an audio combo jack, and a Gigabit Ethernet port.

The best part about this laptop is its price. Asus VivoBook Pro N580 with 16GB RAM, Core i7 processor and 512GB SSD will cost just $1299 in the US. You can order it here from Amazon.

For your information, Dell XPS 15 with similar specs will cost you about $1,700. Microsoft Surface Book with almost similar specs but 2K touchscreen display will cost you about $2,699.
