Netmarketshare: Windows 10 and Microsoft Edge see a rise in Marketshare

As the first quarter of 2019 comes to an end, Netmarketshare has published their reports for the month of March 2019. The report shows something we haven’t seen in a while. With March coming to an end, Netmarketshare now reports a decent gap between Windows 7 and Windows 10. The good news doesn’t end here for Microsft as March has also seen a rise in Microsoft Edge’s marketshare.
According to the latest Netmarketshare report, Windows 10 has gain significantly, and is currently holding 43.62% of the market. Windows 10, then is followed by Windows 7 which dropped down to 36.52%. This might be due to the fact that Windows 7 has reached the end-of-support and soon will stop receiving critical updates.
Coming to web browsers, Google Chrome is on the top with 67.88% of the market and is followed by Firefox which sits at 9.27%. Microsoft’s Internet Explorer still holds 7.34% of the market and is followed by Microsoft Edge which sits at 5.20%.
Overall, this month has been good for Microsoft as the company puts the last nail in Windows 7’s coffin. The Redmond giant, however, has to work harder on Microsoft Edge. We do hope that when Microsoft finally releases Chromium-based Microsoft Edge, it might give Microsoft the breakthough they desperately need.
