Netflix has started testing a new set of mobile-only plans in a bunch of countries in Asia. The new plans will offer users a way to buy Netflix subscriptions without breaking a bank.

The plans are currently tested in countries like India and Malaysia. The low cost $0.95 plan will be valid for a week and will allow users to stream videos in SD on mobiles and tablets. The plan, however, will restrict users from using Netflix on multiple screens simultaneously. Netflix is also offering three more plans priced at $1.8, $2.3 and $2.8 per week. Apart from these, Netflix is also testing monthly plans only for mobile and tablet users. These plans will be priced lower than the normal monthly plans which are priced starting from $7 in India.

We are always looking for ways to make Netflix more enjoyable and accessible. We will be testing different options in select countries where members can, for example, watch Netflix on their mobile device for a lower price and subscribe in shorter increments of time. Not everyone will see these options and we may never roll out these specific plans beyond the tests.

There is no word on when the new plans will roll out publicly but these plans will definitely help Netflix capture more market especially in India where the company is facing fierce competition from other local streaming services like Hotstar and Sonyliv.
