Age of Empire’s wasn’t completely dead and buried during its ten-year hiatus between Age of Empires III: Asian Dynasties and Age of Empires: Definitive Edition. In fact, there were numerous entries: the now-dead Age of Empires online and the fastly-approaching-death Age of Empires: Castle Siege.

Castle Siege was forged back during the peak of Clash of Clans and its many competitors. It has seen pretty substantial over the years and is a decent RTS game, although not necessarily one that really deserves to carry the Empires name.

Microsoft announced through the in-game news feature that the service will be closing down on May 13th, 2019. I’m sure for anyone still playing the game frequently, this will be a bit of a blow.
