Minecraft has sold over 122 million copies

Back in June last year, Mojang announced that Minecraft has shot past 100 million copies sold making it the second game in history to have done so. The only game which is ahead of Minecraft is Tetris, which has been out since 1984. Minecraft didn’t officially launch until 2011. Today, Mojang announced that they have reached 122 million sales number. Also, Minecraft now has 55 million monthly players.

Microsoft is not only promoting Minecraft among the gaming community but also in the education community. Microsoft recently released a new web-based tutorial which available for free for students. It enables beginner coders to create and share their own simple “Minecraft” game, and is designed to empower anyone to begin learning the problem-solving and critical thinking skills required in today’s world.
