Minecraft has is now the king of yet another milestone, the best-selling video game of all time.

Announced today by Microsoft, the crazy-popular crafting game has sold 176 million copies. Just seven months ago, Mojang’s masterpiece had sold a whopping 156 million, that’s a huge jump in just over half a year!

If this is to be believed, that would make Minecraft the best-selling video game of all time, dethroning Tetris at 170 million units.

Impressively, Minecraft’s newest sales numbers are strictly for purchased versions of the game. The free-to-play Minecraft China Edition has already raked in over 200 million registered players, but that’s a different story.

With the upcoming Minecraft Dungeons and recently announced Minecraft Earth, there’s no stopping this monster IP.

If you’ve yet to play Minecraft, there’s no better time than the present. With the original Minecraft Classic available for free in your browser and the normal version available on pretty much everything, you might as well give it a shot. Although, last-gen versions will be absent from future updates.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to play Tetris 99. I’ve got myself a Game Boy theme to win.
