Microsoft working with BBC to bring iPlayer to Windows Phone

The head of iPlayer at BBC, David Price, has confirmed to DigitalSpy that the company is currently working with Microsoft to ensure Windows Phone 7 users will have access to the catch-up TV service at some point.
“What I can say about that is we make our services available through a number of ways, whether they’re applications or the mobile web experience,” he told Digital Spy.
“We’re working with the teams at Microsoft to ensure that we can deliver an iPlayer experience on those devices.”

The BBC has previously said they would only create a Windows Phone 7 app to access the service if there is enough user demand and have previously blamed the lack of support on the absence HLS (HTTP Live Streaming) or Adobe Flash on the Windows Phone 7 platform.
Hopefully the app will arrive before Windows Phone 8 makes the whole issue obsolete.
