Design inconsistency is something that you can see not just in Windows 10 but also in Microsoft’s other services, including Microsoft Office. On the brighter side, however, the company managed to address some of these inconsistencies in its desktop operating system, and it looks like the company wants to do the same with one of its most successful products, Office.
As first spotted by Florian B, Microsoft is currently working on full Dark Theme support for Word desktop. What this means is that once the feature becomes available for the public, you’ll be able to apply the dark theme throughout the application. Option to turn on Dark Theme is already present in Office, but turning it on applies the Dark Theme to some section of Office applications. For example, turning on the option will apply the dark theme to the Ribbon and some other areas in Word. But with this new feature, users will be able to apply Dark Theme in the document area, status bar, and pretty much everywhere.
The feature seems to be in the developmental phase, meaning we might have to wait a while before Microsoft makes it available for the public. But based on Florian B‘s tweet, it looks like Office Insiders will get the support for full dark mode in Word desktop before anyone else.
