After much buzz, Microsoft is finally rolling out on-device AI with a new class of automated agents to Windows 11 on Copilot+ PCs. These agents are built to handle everyday system tasks, starting with a pilot integration directly inside the Windows Settings app.

Users can type commands like “reduce screen brightness” or “turn off Bluetooth,” and the agent will execute the task upon approval. With this, Microsoft marks its clearest attempt at AI assistance via Agents into core system functions. For this, the tech giant will process AI requests via Snapdragon X Elite chips, followed by Intel and AMD hardware.

In this update, Windows Search is also getting a major revamp. Microsoft is upgrading the Search with AI-powered semantic indexing. This will help the system better understand what users seek, even if they forget exact file names or paths. The improved system first comes to File Explorer, followed by a rollout in the general search bar and Settings.

These features are part of Microsoft’s broader Copilot strategy, where AI is meant to streamline routine tasks. This rollout hints at a future where talking to your PC and having it act becomes the new default. Microsoft has already integrated AI with applications, such as Paint, Photos, Notepad, and File Explorer. This helps make streamlining tasks easier, such as image editing and text extraction in Windows. These tools aim to make everyday computing tasks more intuitive and efficient.
