Some variants of the Surface 3 has been out of stock on the Microsoft Store for a little while now. The device is quite old at the moment, which means it’s nearing its death. Today, Microsoft confirmed that the company will stop manufacturing the Surface 3 by December 2016, which means you may not be able to get your hands-on a new Surface 3 next year. Moreover, Microsoft also confirmed that the company has a limited inventory for the Surface 3, which is why some of the variants of the device are currently out of stock.

Since launching Surface 3 over a year ago, we have seen strong demand and satisfaction amongst our customers. Inventory is now limited and by the end of December 2016, we will no longer manufacture Surface 3 devices.

Microsoft could be working on the Surface 4, which we didn’t really hear much about. The company’s Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book have been doing pretty well (except for all the bugs in the early days), but a Surface 4 could just be right around the corner.
