Microsoft VP confirms low-end smartphone focus over the next 12 months

Speaking in Colgne, Microsoft VP for advertising and online Frank Holland confirmed to Beet.tv that Microsoft planned to focus on expanding Microsoft’s Windows Phone market share in the developing market with cheap Lumia handsets.
He said:
"We are going to spend a lot of time in the next 12 months building a real presence on the low-end smartphone market with developing countries”
The news is an acknowledgement that this is not only the area where Windows Phones have had the most traction, but also where there is currently the greatest opportunity, with hundreds of millions of feature phone users expected to buy their first smartphone over the next year.
There have been rumours that Microsoft is working on a n even lower-end handset than the very successful Nokia Lumia 520, and this may be exactly what Windows Phone needs to push into the double digits.
