Unlike Apple Microsoft can not count on much free publicity for the launch of their Windows Phone 7 handsets. Microsoft has fought back by recruiting reality TV starts in a series of publicity stunts, like the Old Spice Guy in Australia.

For the US launch Microsoft has announced on Facebook they will be giving away free tickets to a Katy Perry or Maroon 5 concert to attendees of select AT&T stores on November 8.

To document the launch, and the concerts, reality TV star Rob Dyrdek & Minka Kelly, Esquire’s Sexiest Woman Alive for 2010 and a camera crew will embark on a whirlwind cross-country trip “to see if better phone design can help curb bad phone behaviour.”

The team will travel from New York to San Francisco on November 8th, to attend the Maroon 5 concern, were presumably we will see some Windows Phone 7 promotion.
