In this video Brandon Watson talks to Steve Cosman about Bing’s new Audio search feature and reveals that the service started as a Microsoft Research project which moved rapidly to the product phase, and that Microsoft intends to develop the service much further.

They also mention that the recognized library is more than 10 million songs big, and features continuous audio fingerprinting to speed up recognition.

Audio recognition has found recent application in recognizing movies and TV programs in several iOS applications, and we hope to see the Mango feature evolve much further.
