There is no saying how long it will be before the Windows 10 Mobile upgrade hits our devices, but in the mean time ROMs for Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 for many Lumia handsets is already sitting on Microsoft’s servers, as evidenced by the Insider issues which revealed them.

The update brings a number of useful and desirable features, such as Reset Protection, Bluetooth HID support, searchable and pinnable settings and much more.

Officially only the Lumia 540 Dual SIM, 640, 640 XL, 735, 830, and a bevy of Windows Reference Design devices such as the BLU Win HD LTE Yezz Billy 4.7, Prestigio MultiPhone 8400 DUO, DUO 8500 Prestigio MultiPhone and the Verizon HTC One M8 are getting the update.

Now however a Microsoft support official on the Polish Microsoft forums is claiming that the update will indeed be coming to more Lumias, with ajax_123 saying:

Thank you for the information about updating Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2.
It will be available also for other Lumia phones running Windows Phone 8.1

Hopefully Microsoft can officially roll out the update for those not able to take advantage of the Insider hack.

Do our readers want WP8.1 Update 2 now, bearing in mind that this could delay the W10 Mobile roll-out, or would you rather wait 2-6 for Windows 10 Mobile only? Let us know below.
