Microsoft is shutting down its Chinese Web Portal, MSN China next month. Microsoft will be focusing on software and services for Windows 10 going forward instead of online content.

This move was signalled last year when Microsoft signed a deal with Baidu to make it Baidu the default search provider and default home page for Edge users in China.

Microsoft provided the following statment regarding this news,

“Microsoft is deeply committed to China, offering a range of products including Windows 10, cloud services, and hosting the largest research and development center outside of the U.S.”

Yesterday, Microsoft China started notifying users on its MSN China website that it will shut down on June 7. After  June 7, visitors to cn.msn.com will see a directory page of Chinese websites along with a Bing search bar.
