Last month, Microsoft released the June 2023 firmware update for several Surface devices, including Surface Pro 8, 7 Plus, Pro 6, and 5, adding lots of improvements and fixes. Besides these devices, Microsoft released the June firmware update for the Surface Go 3 device, adding fixes and improvements and a new feature, something we don’t get to see very often in a firmware update.
As for what’s new in June 2023 firmware update for Surface G0 3, graphics stability improvements and fixes for the graphical display issues are worth highlighting. Apart from those changes, Surface Go 3 also gets improved WiFi stability and improvements to the Surface Dock2 stability. Lastly, the firmware update also enables support for new docking accessories.
If you own the Surface Go 3, you will need to run Windows 10 October 2020 Update, Version 20H2, or greater on your devices to get the June 2023 firmware update. To install the latest firmware update on your Surface device, open the Settings app, click Windows Update, and then click Check for updates. You will need to restart your device to complete the installation process.
It is important to note that these firmware updates are rolling out in a phased manner, meaning you may or may not get the update today. If you are not getting it even after meeting the software requirement, you should wait until it becomes available for your device. Surface Go 3 will continue to receive firmware updates until October 5, 2025. After that date, you will only receive Windows updates from Microsoft. Recently, Microsoft stopped pushing firmware updates to Surface Pro 6 devices.
