Microsoft yesterday announced the release of usage metrics in the Power BI service for dashboard and report authors. With this new functionality, users can get access to key usage metrics for their dashboards and reports to prioritize their efforts on the most impactful, widely used content. Usage metrics can be accessed by selecting the new “Usage metrics” option at the top right. Microsoft will display the following content on the usage reports page:

  • The number of views and viewers
  • How the numbers stack up compared to other dashboard/reports in the organization.
  • Number of users accessing via the web or mobile app, etc.

Microsoft also allows you users to use the “save as” feature to create a copy of the pre-built usage metrics. Please note that Power BI Pro license is required to access the usage metrics reports.

You can learn more about this new feature here.
