Microsoft has partnered with Verizon for using their EdgeCast CDN for their media services instead of using their own in-house CDN. It is surprising to see that Microsoft has partnered with a 3rd party to be part of their Media Services when companies like Amazon are going more in-house for delivering services.
Microsoft’s response regarding this partnership,
“Microsoft licenses technology from many partners to complement our product offerings and to give customers complete solutions. We are happy to partner with EdgeCast to provide an integral component of the Azure Media Services workflow.”
