Recently, Microsoft acquired two of the best Android and iOS apps: Acompli, and Sunrise. The software giant today announced some upcoming changes for the Outlook app, which is available on iOS today and coming to Android next month.
With the latest update for Outlook for iOS, Microsoft is introducing a cleaner, and a revamped user interface. Microsoft says the company focused on improving the tiny and important details of the app when it comes to the user interface. The latest update comes with an improved navigation and some other user interface changes. Furthermore, the company has improved the Calendar view with the latest update, which should be a pretty nice update.
Moving on to the upcoming update for the Android app, there are some other sweet changes coming to Android, too. The company is introducing a cleaner user interface, inspired by Material Design which will allow users to focus on their emails. Just like the iOS client, Microsoft has improved the navigation for the Android app, too. As the company is working on merging Sunrise Calendar and Outlook, the upcoming update for Outlook for Android will also introduce an overhauled Calendar Agenda view which will include a better UI, and show more info about your events at a glance.
Aside from the user interface changes, the latest updates for Outlook on Android and iOS is mainly focused on bringing the best of Sunrise to Outlook. According to Javier Soltero, the corporate vice president of the Outlook team, the Sunrise team is now part of the Outlook team. Javier states that the company will be introducing richer calendar experiences for Outlook in the coming months, and the company will be keeping Sunrise on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store until the app’s features are fully integrated into the official Outlook app.
Javier also revealed that Outlook on Android and iOS currently has almost 30 million users, which is, indeed, a huge number. As we have previously stated, the latest update for Outlook for iOS is coming today while Outlook on Android will be getting the update in November.
