Microsoft will launch Windows 10 in summer this year. Windows 10 is already available to Windows Insiders. However, when Windows 10 launches for the public, Microsoft may display a notification to Windows 7 and 8, 8.1 users to upgrade to the latest version of Windows.

Microsoft recently released a “recommended” patch to Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 users which “additional capabilities for Windows Update notifications when new updates are available to the user”. Now, the patch files, based on System32 suggests that the Windows Update notifications are for Windows 10:

The above screenshot suggests that when Windows 10 launches for the public, Microsoft will notify users to upgrade to Windows 10. This is indeed a good move by the company as they probably don’t want Windows 7 to be the next Windows XP. As reported earlier, Microsoft is likely to release Windows 10 by late summer of this year.
