Insider programs are all the rage it seems, Microsoft has one for Windows and the Xbox, and now – the Skype team are initiating their own Skype Insider program.

Skype Insider is a program that provided testers with access to pre-release builds of Skype whether o Android, iOS or Windows (excluding Windows phones and the Store apps). The program is set to allow Skype fans to test out and deliver feedback on planned features fo the program.

It is trivially easy to sign up for Skype Insider, you’ll need to head to this link here and have your Google account, Apple ID or Microsoft account  on the ready.

While there aren’t any builds of Skype Insider ready yet for mobile devices, Microsoft already has a build for the PC out , so you can try out Skype beta builds on the PC right now.

While the exclusion of the Skype preview apps for Windows may seem weird at first, Microsoft’s Windows Store apps allow developers to push put updates to Insider builds, allowing the store apps to use their own mechanism. With that in mind, there is likely no need for a Skype Insider program for the Windows 10 Store apps. Similarly, while many users may balk at Microsoft’s continued support of the Skype Win 32 app, that is still the most widely used variant on Skype for Windows due to being available on Windows 7 and 8 as well and will likely be the most used version of Skype for the near future.
