As part of their new productivity focused strategy, Microsoft is acquiring new mobile apps every now and then. Following Accompli and Sunrise, Microsoft yesterday announced acquisition of Wunderlist task management app. Microsoft already has several task management tools such as OneNote, SharePoint tasks, Outlook Tasks and now Wunderlist. It seems Microsoft also is working on an app/service focused on the enterprise called ‘Planner’. Planner is built on top of Office graph on Office 365.

Mary Jo Foley from ZDNet got some info on how Planner works,

Another source of mine said that the coming Office 365 Planner portal is similar to Trello Inc.’s popular Trello project manager. Users will be able to link their documents to specific tasks, projects and/or Yammer conversations. There will be options for a variety of views, such as project status or calendar view (similar to what users can do with tasks in SharePoint), my contact said.

Wunderlist recently announced integration with Sunrise and Microsoft will share additional integration updates in the coming months.
