Key notes

  • With Copilot GPT Builder, Microsoft was empowering general users with very little or no coding knowledge to develop their own AI chatbots that help them with specific tasks.
Copilot GPT Builder

When Microsoft announced Copilot Pro back in January this year, Microsoft highlighted allowing users to create their own GPTs as one of the offerings included in the subscription plan. The new Copilot Builder allowed users to create their own Copilot GPTs. Today, Microsoft announced that it will remove the ability to create GPTs through Copilot Builder starting July 10, 2024. Not only that, but Microsoft will also remove all GPTs (created by Microsoft and by customers) along with their associated GPT data starting July 10, 2024, through July 14, 2024.

Why Microsoft is killing Copilot GPTs for consumers:

Microsoft wants to focus on prioritizing core Copilot experiences for general consumers and shift its focus on GPTs to Commercial and Enterprise scenarios.

Since Copilot GPTs are getting killed, you can take a copy of your custom instructions by following the below steps:

  1. Open your GPT in edit mode
  2. Go to the configure tab
  3. Copy the instructions and save them elsewhere

Due to this change, if you want to cancel your Microsoft Copilot Pro subscription, you can go to this page for instructions.??
