When it comes to voice assistants on smartphones, the best one is usually the one built into your smartphone, but a recently leaked feature of Cortana may make her your new favourite.
The WC reports that Cortana integration with the popular Outlook Mail app will soon mean she will be able to read your emails to you.
The integration, in Cortana 3.3, will offer to read emails in your focussed inbox when your phone is connected to Bluetooth speakers, such as your car or Bluetooth headphones. When activated by a button press, Cortana will read you a cleverly summarized version of your email, pause briefly for you to say “delete,” “reply,” or “flag” and continue to your next email. Users will be able to skip an email simply by swiping their screen or by pressing buttons on the screen. When an email is heavily formatted Cortana will say “there is a lot of visual content” and recommend viewing the email.
It is not known when the feature will be released, but with Cortana reading text messages being one of the favourite features on Windows Phone, this may be extremely popular when it comes to your iOS or Android inbox.
