Dictate is a new project from Microsoft Garage that allows you to start typing with your own voice. Dictate is a
free Microsoft Office add-in that works with Outlook, Word and PowerPoint. It makes use of the same state of the art speech recognition technology that powers Cortana and Microsoft Translator. Currently, Dictate supports more than 20 languages for dictation and real time translation to 60 languages. It also supports the following commands for better typing experience.

  • New Line: Takes cursor to new line
  • Delete: Removes the last line you dictated
  • Stop Dictation: Terminates the dictation session
  • Full stop or period: Types period character (.)
  • Question mark: Types (?)
  • Open Quote: Types (“)
  • Close Quote: Types (”)
  • Colon: Types (:)
  • Comma: Types (,)
