Microsoft has finally launched a tool to troubleshoot the infamous HP printer errors that has been annoying users for quite some time.

The Printer Metadata Remediation Tool (KB5034510) is now available on the Microsoft Download Center for all x86, x64, Arm32, and Arm64-based versions of affected operating systems.

Earlier last month, we reported that users have found the HP Smart printer companion app has forcefully been installed on their desktops. While the app is harmless, some users have observed that it remains installed in their virtual machines after performing a clean installation of Windows 11 or Windows 11.

Microsoft has acknowledged the issue and has updated its release health page to address it. The company also stated that printers may display LaserJet M101-M106 model information regardless of their actual manufacturer.

Microsoft said further, following an investigation, that the HP update didn’t cause printer issues. Basic printer functions should still work, but some extended features may not.

“However, this issue might affect associations with other manufacturer-supplied printer apps used to extend basic printer capabilities. If this is the case, some or all of those extended functions might not work,” the update reads.
