Microsoft explains 'AppSource' business app store in new video

Microsoft is working on a business app store named ‘AppSource’. The AppSource website was available Tuesday night at appsource.microsoft.com for a brief period of time. According to the information that was available on it, AppSource will allow anyone to find the right Microsoft platform based app for their business needs. You can filter our apps by category, industry and Product. For example, once can filter out for various collaboration tools built on top of Office 365 that serves financial services industry.

Now in a new video Microsoft has revealed more about the purpose of the store and how it worked, and revealed that it appears to be a very sophisticated solution that includes free trials, and which would also companies to hire consultants to configure the software for example. The store will feature curated apps from Microsoft or their partners and will integrate with Active Directory.

Microsoft would presumably hope the feature will also help increase the enterprise adoption of Windows 10, which is currently lagging and  which would be another massive source of installations to meet their 1 billion goal.
