middleware

Microsoft is working on making life easier for Windows and Windows Phone developers by increasing support for middleware developers.

Middleware are software libraries for easing creation of applications such as games (e.g. the Unity game engine) or accessing services such as Distimo.

Windows and Windows Phone is already well supported by middleware, and in fact Microsoft has set up a directory of middle-ware supporting Windows, to make it easier for developers to access solutions already available.

They would like to have more however, and as part of the Windows Dev Center Partner Program Microsoft is giving  middleware providers devices to use for testing, software, co-marketing money, event support, and more to encourage them to support the platform.

Developers of middle-ware solutions can apply today to see if they  qualify for the benefits.
