Microsoft has acknowledged that mapped network drives will have issues on Windows 10 October 2018 Update. The good news, however, is that Microsoft has shared a workaround for users who work with mapped drives on Windows 10.

For those who don’t know, Mapped drive is just like a hard drive but is actually located on another computer on the same network. It is usually used by professionals who work in a team and need to work in collaboration with others on a single file. To simplify, Mapped drive is like a shortcut to open the actual file which stored somewhere else. Microsoft hasn’t specified why mapped drive doesn’t work on October 2018 Update but you might want to stay clear of the update if you use the feature regularly. For those who have installed it, Microsoft has shared workarounds on their Support website to make the feature work until the company fixes the problem.
