Microsoft Blocks Ask Toolbar As Malware And Removes It

Recently, Microsoft classified Ask Toolbar as a malware and starts removing it from user PCs. When another program attempts to change the home page, default search, or new tabs setting, older versions of Ask Toolbar displays the warning that there have been changes in the Internet Explorer settings and attempts to revert you back to the Ask home page.

Here is the information Microsoft posted online,

The latest version of this application is not detected by our objective criteria, and is not considered unwanted software.

Older versions of software can restrict or limit your control over your search provider. It can prevent you from disabling or modifying your search provider.

A spokeswoman for the Ask Toolbar developer has confirmed that Microsoft’s latest update to their anti-malware solution affects less than one percent of the toolbar’s user base.
