Based on the user feedback, Microsoft today announced it will soon bring the support for account backup and recovery in Microsoft Authenticator iOS app. With this feature, Microsoft Authenticator app will keep user’s account credentials, so they won’t get locked out of their accounts when they move to a new device. Microsoft is already testing this feature to iOS beta users and will release it to general users in the coming weeks. Microsoft will also add this feature to Microsoft Authenticator Android app later this year.

When you enable backup, Microsoft will encrypt your backup data with your personal Microsoft account and then store the encrypted backup with your iCloud account. When you use the same iCloud account and personal Microsoft account on another device, you can recover your account.
