Microsoft yesterday announced the support for interstitial banner ads in the Microsoft Store Services SDK. Microsoft Store Services SDK was already supporting video interstitials, now they have added support for interstitial banner ads following the feedback from developers. As you all know, interstitial banner ads are full-screen ads and they are popular among advertisers because of their high engagement rate. They also offer much higher eCPMs than standard banner ads making them a popular way to monetize apps and games. Advantages of using interstitial banner ads:

  • Full user attention: The full-screen ads grab the full attention of users.
  • Larger surface area: The increased real estate provides advertisers with more options to show content that attracts potential customers.
  • User engagement: Interstitial ads require user action to move away from the ad and hence the user engagement is always high.

The support for interstitial banner ads is available in the latest release of the Microsoft Store Services SDK for Universal Windows Platform (UWP) apps for Windows 10. Download it here from Microsoft.
