Microsoft announces improved Windows Phone traffic data in USA, to spread to rest of world soon

We have already noticed improved traffic data on Bing Maps, and now Microsoft has made an announcement on their blog revealing more detail.

The expanded traffic data, provided by Nokia, now covers even more highways and secondary streets. 

The improved traffic data is currently available in USA, but will soon expand to selected cities in Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom.

On the maps green roads are clear; yellow and orange roads are congested and red roads are jammed.  Black roads are closed. If no roads change color, then traffic information is not available for your area.

If the traffic data option is not available the feature is not yet available in your location, but it should arrive in the next few weeks.

Now if Microsoft could only fix the turn by turn directions feature…
