Developers have been complaining of application certification delays for some months now.  Microsoft has now announced improvements which should speed applications to Marketplace even faster and improve the experience of developers.

Microsoft has made some back-end changes which should improve publication times by 20-30%, which still leaves it at around 3-4 days.

Certification times are now also down to an average of one day.

The improvements are only temporary measures while Microsoft overhauls the backend of the service in anticipation of an accelerating influx of applications later in the year.

The App Hub web interface has also had performance and stability updates, making creating reports on app performance faster and more reliable.

Microsoft also provided a fix for niggles such as developer unlocking phones already unlocked by others.

They resolved to continue to look for ways to resolve or reduce the impact of issues and provide a better Marketplace experience.
