Microsoft yesterday announced the general availability of StorSimple 8000 series Update 4.0 with new features and enhancements. They have added a new feature in this update that tracks frequently accessed data to create a heatmap when the device is in use prior to DR. Post DR, it uses the heatmap to automatically restore and rehydrate the data from the cloud. This update also improves the performance of locally pinned volumes in scenarios that have high data ingestion.

Apart from the new features, they have fixed bugs in the areas of MPIO support for StorSimple Snapshot Manager, alerts, controller replacement, updates, and more. This Update 4.0 is now available for customers to apply from the StorSimple Manager Service in Azure.
