Microsoft today announced the general availability of Microsoft 365 from its new cloud datacenters in Brazil. With this availability, Brazilian organizations can have their customer data stored at rest in Brazil. For now, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business and Microsoft Teams data will be stored in-country.

Microsoft also announced that Microsoft 365 Multi-Geo will be available from the new Brazil geography by Q1 of 2021. Microsoft 365 Multi-Geo allows customers to configure the geographies where their Microsoft 365 user data is stored at rest, on a by-user basis, all within a single tenant.

“We see Brazilian organizations of all sizes and across all industries currently investing in new ways of empowering their employees with modern tools to enable secure, flexible, and mobile working that fosters collaboration. Microsoft 365 from the new Brazil geography is already seeing strong demand, especially with the new opportunity to store customer data at rest in Brazil for core online services,” wrote Paul Lorimer, Corporate Vice President, Office 365 Enterprise and Cloud Engineering.
